SEO Tools are all over the internet and finding the ones that really work or that help align you are becomming harder to find, however all is not lost. I also run a successful online gifts shop which has a multitude of gifts all of which require their own unique keywords and descriptions which is very tiresome especially after the hundreth product and especially if you are trying to rank on page one for every product line.

Our keyword list in Webmaster tools runs into the thousands it includes single phrases and long tails, apart from finding the highest keyword searched phrases and focusing on those it is very difficult to write these phrases into useable descriptions unless you have a degree in litterature.

Take a look at our post on Self Promotion this gives a quick overview on how to write a basic post.

After delving deeper into this particular subject we went looking for a tool that would guide us through the process making sure we have all the SEO basses covered there where several out there including the following:

Easy WP Seo Tools which you can find here at the Warrior Forum a great site for finding answers Click Here

SEO Scorer which you can find the SEO Tools here

So after much discussion we decided to go for option 2 the SEO Scorer we are normally very sceptical about these types of seo tools because you never know who has written them or if they are just a waste of money, in theory they probably are because if you follow the correct rules from Google you will qualify just as well, but we found that after a while you can miss things because there is so much to remember especially if you are starting off so we found this particular tool extremely helpful at keeping us in line.

As we mentioned earlier we went for option 2 the Seo Scorer we just picked one post we had written and applied the SEO Tool to it and it immediately highlighted a dozen errors and we thought we where good at writing posts, you live and learn anyway after about 20mins or so we finally got the tool to report a score of 100% excellent we thought patting ourselves on the back while hitting the Publish button. Over the next couple of days we checked google for our chosen keyword making sure that we cleared our browser cache and was not logged into any Google tools, and we couldnt believe it after three days we where on page one, at the bottom we might add but the post had come from page 13 plus in three days, its a miracle.

Not really all we did was follow the rules when writing posts and used unique content. The miracle as we call it is that we had a tool that kept a check on us and it only cost us $14.

We will continue to keep a close watch on the post just to see if anything changes. I love it when a plan comes together.

Here are a few examples of what we have found so far.

1. Grey – Be careful if your market is for older adults Grey can bring out thoughts and feelings of bereavement, depression, and old age. but it tends mean neutrality, humility, and admiration. Suggested use for this color shouldn’t be for backgrounds but perhaps borders. Use Carefully.
2. White – Is a very clean color and can invoke feelings of purity, spiritually and confidence. It is a very safe color for e-commerce most of which are already white look at e-bay for instance. White is a very good color to use for an American audience.
3. Black – Is what is usually a power color, it may send a message of elegance and prowess very noisily. Try not to use to much black, unless you might be using it to display photographs and then try not to over do it. Black should be best used as a secondary color as part of your site design.
4. Blue – Blue is a very steadfast and dependable color to make use of, it brings about emotions like harmony, tranquility and has an overall calming effect on Americans. This is a great main color scheme base for your design. However, I found that in Iran, blue is the color of mourning.
5. Red – Can actually make a person’s respirations and blood pressure rise according to some studies. It floods us with very strong feelings related to love, sex, passion and ambition. Depending on your store’s theme this can be a powerful effect.
6. Pink – Has by far the best overall calming response and is considered the truest color of love, relationships and femininity. Again however, depending on your shop’s venue pink might just be the color for you.
7. Green – Makes people consider life and living things, nature, youth and money. Green tends to signify an “action” response in Americans… Use green to get shoppers to “do” something. However, green also a color of disgrace in China, but in some western countries for instance Great Britain and Ireland it is notably lucky color. Overall green is a very pleasing color and the darker the shade the more conservative the emotional response. Green is a great color in your overall store design.
8. Purple – Is a color of deep spirituality, sensuality, creativity, wealth and prosperity. Purple can add a certain hint of mystery is best utilised in small parts of your design scheme. The darker the purple the lesser the emotional response. It is also the colour of mourning in Thailand.
9. Yellow – Makes people think bright sun shining days and optimism, but can also bring about occasional thoughts of cowardice and weakness. Interesting studies have found that babies cry more in yellow rooms. Yellow has other physical responses as well, it speeds your metabolism up and helps bring creativity and artistic thoughts. Yellow would best better served as a less prominent color within your web page design. The more golden or deeper the shade the better the response. Accessibility not: Yellow often is the brightest and hardest color for human eyes to focus on.
10. Brown – Is stable, dependable, and earthy. Brown makes people imagine reliability and friendship. Brown is regarded as natural or organic in its essence. Brown is the color of mourning in India. Shades of beige are specifically very neutral and safe, thus making Beige a great prominent color in your ecommerce store.
11. Orange – Brings about intense feelings of energy, balance and enthusiasm. I personally love the colour orange and I wear it and use it very often. Orange has a combination of the most effective elements of yellow and red emotional responses. The powerful excitement of red with less intensity and an extremely small hint of the calming effect of yellow… Without putting anyone to sleep. However, I would recommend orange as a secondary color in your web site design.

The next time you redesign or begin to put out a brand new store… Research some colors in your specific market. You would possibly just find that the suitable color combination could have people staying on site longer and converting better. Below are some great resources for color psychology and emotional color responses for your review.

Where do I begin there are hundreds of hosting services but be careful. If your product or service is for your own country then I would suggest sourcing a service provider that has it’s servers in your home country as this will help you further down the line when it comes to targeting these customers.

However if your target market is outside your own country then it is advised to host your website in the country it was intended for. e.g. If target market is Irish based then it is best to host your website on Irish Servers whereas if your target market lives in the USA it is best to host in the USA.

As for hosting companies I have found that some like to group their customers by country this means that even if you sign up for a service in a particular country you might find that you will end up on a server in Europe so be careful and get what you pay for.

The best way to find a host (and I made a few wrong choices) is to look at some other web sites and generally they will say where they are hosted on their home page or use the Whois look up service.

Also see what support services are available, do they have contact numbers with 24hr support, do you have the option for live chat etc, etc.

Just make sure you fully check them out before you hit the sign up button and get recommendations from where you can.

Choosing a domain name is probably the easiest thing to do all you have to do is get your company name search for the dot com and away you go but this is not always the best thing to do.

Think about it, if you are a building company then there are probably hundreds of you so unless someone actually knows that your company name is associated with building you are not likely to attract many customers unless they are searching for your business name. But that’s why they invented keywords I here you say, yes these will help but there are thousands of you all fighting to appear on the first page for the same keyword. So how are you going to get that little bit of an edge when starting off for the first time.

Your first place of call should be the Google Keywords tool, search for keywords that best match the type of business you are operating, think what would my customers search for if they where to look for our/ your services. Once you have a list of good quality keywords with relatively high search data (don’t forget to also look for long tail keywords as well) you should be well on your way to searching for a domain name.

When searching for your new domain try and make sure that the keywords you have just searched for appear in the domain try and get the best match to your product or service. An example would be a shop selling Irish gifts it would have something like this www.irishqualitygifts.com , here there are two main keywords Irish and Gifts, you get the idea I’m sure. Don’t worry too much if your business name is not included you can always have that domain as well.

The methodology behind all this eventually leads to content which is what Google is all about GOOD QUALITY CONTENT you will here this phrase a lot. If you have your keyword in your domain name and your keyword in your good quality content you will stand a much better chance of Google taking notice of you. After all that is why you are building a website in the first place to add another stream of incoming business leads.

The idea behind this is to help you get as much free traffic from Google as you can why pay for it when you don’t have to, besides you will need your money for link building, blogging, and creating videos.

When you have finally chosen your domain name you will then be ready to start looking at hosting. Lucky YOU why not check out this post for a bit of advice. Web Hosting

What is blogging? Blogging is all about sharing information this could be just a story, a product description or an instruction on how to do something.

This here is a blog post it is giving you details on our product range, but the most important thing about blogging is to be different especially when it comes to ranking in Google, you see Google is not stupid it knows when you have copied information from someone Else’s website and posted it on your own, it can also spot what is known in the trade as spun blog posts, this is when you change certain words around to make it read differently.

Google notices this and makes a decision that it has been duplicated, so when you are writing about your products make sure you make it different to everyone else. Another key element to content writing is the number of words try to aim for at least 100 to 150 and if you can produce more then try to get to 500 words, the point here is the more relevant the information and the quantity and quality of the information then the more chance Google will reward you.
